Music at the Atwood: Cla da Bossa Nova

Music at the Atwood: Cla da Bossa Nova

Bossa Nova means “new trend” in Portuguese, and refers to a style of music popularized in Brazil in the late 1950s. Using elements of samba and jazz this style was developed in the beachside areas of Rio de Janeiro.

The guitarist Tad Price had been studying Brazilian music for years and after meeting a young Brazilian singer named Rayssa Delorey on February 2013, his vision of a Bossa Nova band was realized with the creation of Clã da Bossa Nova. Rayssa moved to Cape Cod from Brazil when she was 10 years old. She was introduced to Bossa Nova by her mother, who sang to her all the popular tunes and always encouraged her to pursue singing. Other band members include Michael Dunford on percussion, Peter Murray on Sax, and Susan Goldberg on Bass.
