The Atwood Museum, home of the Chatham Historical Society is happy to announce a new Cemetery Walk and Tour for October 28, 2022. Join us for a stroll through Chatham’s beautiful and historic Union Cemetery, the resting place of some of Chatham’s most famous and influential residents. A guide will walk you through the cemetery, as actors educate you on the lives of four selected Chatham residents– Joseph C. Lincoln, Alice Stallknecht, Levi Atwood and Margery Atwood. The tour will be a roughly 1-hour walk through Union Cemetery. Afterwards, we will return to the Atwood Museum where you can learn even more about these four (and many other) important figures in our town’s history while enjoying coffee, hot chocolate, and apple cider donuts.
Transportation will be provided between the Atwood Museum and Union Cemetery. A $25 fee covers the cemetery tour, transportation, and admission to the Atwood Museum. In the event of poor weather, a rain date is scheduled for November 4th.
Please note that the tour will require guests to walk up some inclines and across uneven surfaces. As such, we cannot recommend this tour to anyone with severe physical limitations. If there are any questions about what the tour entails, please reach out either by phone at (508) 945-2493 or email at atwoodreservations@gmail.com.
