Use Less Plastic Coalition Launches Bring Your Own Cup Campaign

CARE for the Cape & Islands (CARE) Program Partners with Local Businesses to Reduce Single-Use Plastic

[Cape Cod, MA] – The Use Less Plastic Coalition is excited to launch the Bring Your Own (BYO) Cup Campaign in partnership with local, independent coffee shops, cafes, and juice bars. This effort encourages customers to bring their own cups to reduce single-use plastic while promoting local businesses on Cape Cod.

The campaign kicks off at the beginning of Plastic Free July and runs through the end of September. Participating businesses offer a small discount or reward to customers who bring their own cup.

“Bringing your own cup might feel small and inconsequential, but the little actions we do to reduce waste add up. Whether you live here or are visiting, bring a reusable cup with you and help us to protect this beautiful place!” Says Haley O’Neil, CARE’s Program Manager.

Participating Businesses

Bagels & Beyond (Yarmourth)
Bagels & Beyond 2 (Hyannis)
Barnstable Market (Barnstable)

Blue Willow Fine Foods & Bakery (Welfleet)
Chez Antoine Cafe (Hyannis)

Far Land Provisions (Provincetown)
Harbor Fox Coffee Bar (Dennis)

J. Bar (Chatham, Harwich)
Kohi Coffee (Provincetown)

Snowy Owl (Brewster, Chatham, Sandwich)
Three Fins Coffee Roasters (Chatham, Dennis)
The Mercantile (Dennis)

“This campaign is critical because of the sheer volume of tourists that arrive here each year, and number of businesses that rely on single-use eat and drink ware for operations,” said Shayna Ferullo, Owner of Snowy Owl Coffee and Use Less Coalition Member. “The BYO Cup Campaign is an easy way to steward action-based plastic reduction.”

After a customer participates in the campaign, they can post a picture on Instagram for a chance to win a prize at the end of the campaign by tagging @uselessplasticcapecod and @careforthecapeandislands.
